It looks pretty good. But I need to work a little on my technique. Right now all the shots I made look like stills... I need to get them to convey more motion .

What camera did you get?

Lower your shutter speed and practice tracking the car. It takes some practice to get it right. The car will never be tack-sharp, but you'll get the sense of motion when the wheels and background are blurred. This only really works when you're not straight on, so your Porsche shot is good as-is.

On bright days, I sometimes run out of adjustment and have to drop on a ND filter to keep things from getting over exposed.

Play around with different framing as well to make things interesting.

Also put the camera in AI servo auto focus if Canon, or whatever continuous focus equivalent.

From what I understand, you're more likely to get action looking shots from corners, rather than straights.

This speedhunters photography guide has been invaluable to me in learning how to photograph cars: http://www.speedhunters.com/2013/07/how-to…

Thanks for the link! That looks like a good place to start... Also I should probably get a monopod or a tripod.

I got a Canon 60D. These were all taken with the stock 18-135 lens. No filters yet... I'm waiting till my next paycheck.

Lower the shutter speed helps, may have to bring the f stop to 11 or 16 to counteract this. If still too bright, get an ND filter.

ND Filter just made the top of the list then... Right next to a Polarizer.

this conveys motion more than a long shutter...but i guess it only works for people who know how heavy helmets get.

If you don't already have a basic UV filter on your lens, get one. They're cheap insurance for keeping your lens clean and scratch free. If you scratch the UV filter, it's a lot cheaper to replace than the lens. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/7271
